Richard A. Perrey, age 76, retired Air Force Major, attorney, and husband to Janet (Jan) Perrey passed away on January 8, 2017. Born on January 29, 1940 in Brooklyn, NY to Albert and Helen Perrey. He graduated from Brooklyn Technical High School and then went on to attend the University of Denver before choosing to leave the university to begin his Air Force career. He entered the USAAF Aviation Cadet Training program where upon completion he was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant. During his 20-year career in the USAAF he was a decorated aviator and squadron commander. He retired in 1979 at the rank of Major from Hill AFB, in Ogden, UT. Richard and his family moved to Spokane, WA in 1980 where he entered Gonzaga Law School in the fall and graduated in spring of 1983. He practiced law in Spokane from 1983 to 1995. After retiring from practicing law he could be seen behind the bar from time to time at the Bulldog Tavern or Trent-n-Dale, where he enjoyed serving up a good beer and giving his regulars a hard time. He is survived by his loving wife Janet, sister Christine, daughter Elizabeth, grandchildren Barbara, Violet, Charlie, Betty, Christie and Langston and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Albert and Helen and children Bill and Barbara. A celebration of life will be held at 12pm on Sunday, January 22th at Hennessey Funeral Home 2203 N Division St, Spokane, WA. A private internment will be held at the Washington State Veterans Cemetery in Medical Lake, WA.
