Henry E. Before passed away on January 24, 2017. He was born on December 3, 1923 to Edmond and Lumina (Labounty) Before near Derby, VT. He grew up as one of nine children, one of whom died at age 12. Henry worked for a time for his father on their dairy and maple sugar farm. In 1947, he heeded a call to the west, visiting his sister, Theresa, in Spokane, WA, and looked for work. The day before he was to leave he found work on a dairy farm near Sprague, WA. He met his wife, Marilyn Jans, at a high school dance and they married in 1953. In addition to farming duties, he was also an occasional volunteer fireman in the area. Henry moved to Great Falls, MT in 1965, where he worked at the College of Great Falls. For 20 years, with little education of his own and an illness as a youth, he was determined that all six of his children would have a college education -- and they did. During those years and following, he worked for Central Floor Covering in Great Falls, MT, retiring completely at the age of 82. He enjoyed RV camping and time with family. He was a member of Rambling Sam's for many years and member of Holy Spirit Parish in Great Falls, MT. The couple had six children: David Beauforte, Borrego Springs, CA; Jeannine (Steve) Kurtela, Woodside, CA: Diane (Marshall) O'Connell, Petaluma, CA; Bill (Jeanine) Before, Spokane, WA; Jean Robert Béffort, Silver City, NM. And Paul (Pam) Before, Billings, MT; and 13 grandchildren. In addition to his children, Henry is survived by a brother, Vincent (Joyce) Before of West Burke, VT and sisters, Theresa (Jim) Cox of Spokane, WA, and Rita Loughery Riley of Palmetto, FL, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. A private liturgy will be celebrated by the family. Henry's final resting place will be Edwall Catholic Cemetery, Edwall, WA.
