SSgt David "Dave" Michael Harney passed away at home on Saturday, January 21st in Cheney, Washington at the age of 34. Cancer took him from his family and friends far too soon.

David is survived by his parents Dwayne and Rose Harney; his sisters Laura Utter, Beth Henson, and Jeanette Harney; his brothers-in-law Jeff Utter and Jeff Henson; 5 nephews and 2 nieces; best friends Lance and Shawna Hultberg.

David was born on December 20th, 1982, in Spokane, Washington. He graduated from John R. Rogers High School in 2001 after passing through Arlington Elementary School and Garry Middle School. He joined the U.S. Air Force in October of 2005 and worked as a Cyber System Operations Craftsman. His career took him to Ramstein AB, Germany, Beale AFB, California, Lackland AFB, Texas, and Fairchild AFB, Washington. He served his country with pride and received the Air Force Achievement Medal and two Air Force Commendation Medals. David was also awarded the Communications and Information Airman of the Year, 548th ISR Group in 2008 and 2009.

A funeral is scheduled for 10:30 am on Friday, January 27th, at Washington State Veterans Cemetery (21702 W. Espanola Rd., Medical Lake WA 99022) with a reception to follow at the home of Jeff & Laura Utter. All are welcome to attend and celebrate David's life. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name to Hospice of Spokane or Fisher House Foundation.
