Charles Douglas, "Doug" Archer of Spokane, Washington passed away in his sleep.
Memorial service will be held 1:00 PM December 16, 2016 at Hennessey Funeral Home with Chaplain Dave Simboli officiating. A firefighter honor guard and procession will then follow to a visitation at Fire District 8, Station 82 Valleyford, WA.
Doug Archer was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, to F. Curtis Archer and Alice Shirley Archer on October 30th, 1967. He went to school at Henry Clay Elementary in Whitefish Bay, Wisconsin, then moved to Spokane WA, where he attended Bowdish Junior High and graduated from University High School in 1986. He graduated from University of Idaho with a Bachelors and Masters in Architecture. He worked as a dedicated volunteer firefighter for over 30 years, and was an Engine Boss, Fire Investigator and Emergency Medical Technician. He was extremely active with the Washington Chapter of the International Association of Arson Investigators. Additionally, Doug was the store manager for Inland Photo and Supply. He then opened his own store named Northwest Photo Supply.. He was a member of the Inland Northwest Wildlife Council, past president of the Engineers Forum, a member of Spokane Symphony Associates with regular attendance of performances, and a regular attendee of Spokane Chiefs hockey games.
Doug's passions included serving others, firefighting, photography, architecture, backpacking, hiking, and world travel. Known to his sister and brother as their "big baby brother", Doug also acted as a friend, uncle, and brother to his extended adopted family of close friends. A private and gentle man, Doug always enjoyed a good beer, art and music, a good story or joke, and sharing his life's experiences and travels with those around him.
Doug is preceded in death by his father F. Curtis Archer.
Doug is survived by Alice Shirley Archer (mother), Patience Archer Duhnke (sister); William Dunhke (spouse), Timothy Archer (brother); Melissa Archer (spouse), David Duhnke, Nathan Duhnke, William Archer and Joshua Archer (nephews), Caitlin (Duhnke) Conley; Joseph Conley (spouse) and Amanda (Portch-Archer) Royce; Jason Royse (spouse)(nieces), Jody Kennedy, Chris Kennedy, and Sheila Warner (cousins).
