Our Mom and beloved friend passed away and into the arms of Jesus on Wednesday, November 16, 2016. Arlene was born in Sioux Falls, SD to Wesley and Flossie Baker on February 15, 1929. She graduated from Washington High School (Sioux Falls, SD) in 1947 and from Yankton College (Yankton, SD) in 1952.
Arlene moved to Spokane, WA in 1956 where she raised 4 children with her (former) husband, Chris Christenson. They moved to N 6919 Adams St where she would live for the next 56 years.
Arlene loved bowling, playing cards and going to Lutherhaven as often as possible. Mostly, she spent her life caring for, and giving to others. For 30 years, she was an in-home caregiver. Arlene also attended and served at Messiah Lutheran Church since the late 1960's. She was often found serving coffee and treats, ready with a joke or a story. Volunteering at Caritas Outreach ministries was also very important to her.
Arlene was preceded in death by her parents, Wesley and Flossie Baker and a brother-in-law, Harry Roberts. She is survived by a sister, Marjorie Roberts (Charles City, IA); her children, Reed Christenson (Portland, OR), Lisa Christenson (Coeur d'Alene, ID), Brad (Jeanie) Christenson (Spokane, WA), Amy (Chris) Jensen (Bellingham, WA); 10 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
Reed, Lisa, Brad and Amy invite you to join them in remembering and honoring Arlene on Tuesday, November 22, 2016 at 2:00 P.M. at Messiah Lutheran Church, 4202 N Belt St, Spokane, WA. Urn placement will take place at a later date at Peone Prairie Cemetery.
